Celebrate Youth Week with STOMP Urban Dance Competition on May 3!

Youth Week is Thursday, May 1 to Wednesday, May 7 – an annual week celebrating and encouraging youth engagement. During Youth Week, young people can take part in free events that focus on visual and performance arts, personal development and civic engagement mixed with some fun! In Toronto Centre, stop by the STOMP Urban Dance Competition & Showcase on May 3 for an afternoon of art and performances!

Youth spaces and hubs across Toronto will host numerous free events and workshops in wellness, visual arts, cooking, fashion, dance and sports. Toronto’s first Youth Poet Laureate Shahaddah Jack will launch the inaugural Say It Loud! Poetry Slam while events such as ResilientTOgether, the Branded Youth Entrepreneurship conference and STOMP Urban Dance Competition return. A full schedule of Youth Week events can be found at toronto.ca/YouthWeek

Be entertained as 20 dance teams & 8 Showcase Acts from across the city will compete to be crowned Toronto BEST. STOMP started as a vehicle to engage young women in recreational opportunities with just 100 participants. This year’s theme is Music Fusion. Music Fusion is an opportunity to fuse music and dance with anything and everything. It may be someone playing an instrument, reading a poem, or dancing to the tune of basketball bouncing.
