Councillor Update - June 2026

Summer is finally here, and it was an extremely busy spring session at City Hall.  From FIFA and Pride preparations, to passing the pedestrianization of Church Street at council, I’m here for you, delivering results, working with our Mayor and Council, and standing up for all of us.

RentSafeTO’s colour coding system goes live on June 15, 2026.  Just like with DineSafe, rental buildings will have signs to display near the main entrance of each applicable building, indicating that the rating of the building is green, yellow, or red.  It’s a great way to ensure that landlords act swiftly to address issues, and I hope that displaying a green sign will quickly become a real point of pride for landlords.

Allan Gardens is a beloved destination in our ward, and I’ve been working to help secure sponsorship of the Farmers Market to sustain it year-round, and supporting the Friends of Allan Gardens vision to revitalize Allan Gardens and expand the Greenhouses.  This is a long-term project rooted in community imagination, and I am proud to be part of bringing it forward.

The redesign of Barbara Hall Park has featured more than three years of attentive public consultation by City staff, and I will ensure that its final design honours and respects the dignity and solemnity of the AIDS and Trans Memorials and those they commemorate.

I’ve also been laser-focused on cleaner and safer parks and public spaces — because these belong to all of us.  Market Lane, Market Street, Scott Street, David Crombie Park, with renovations and improvements coming in the future to Moss Park and its community centre too.

There’s much more to do, and much more to deliver.

Doug Ford continues to weaponize Queen’s Park against our city – for no good reason.  But every time he tries to pull us down, I stand up with our mayor and city council to fight for Toronto.  Whether it's for anti-gridlock projects like bike lanes, or safety measures like speed cameras, or public health initiatives like safe injection sites, or the right of Toronto to decide the future of its own waterfront, I’m not about to let Doug drag us down.

Toronto Centre remains one of the most vibrant, dynamic, and special places in our city, and we’ll make it even better – together.

Yours in service,

Chris Moise
City Councillor
Ward 13 - Toronto Centre

More than 130 residents participated in community safety meetings hosted by my office and Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) this spring in St. James Town and Moss Park. The meetings brought together residents, TCHC staff, Toronto Police Service, the City's Violence Intervention and Support Unit, Fred Victor, and Unison Health and Community Services to discuss local safety concerns and identify solutions.
