Community Environment Day - Allan Gardens
Our Ward 13 Community Environment Day is on Sunday, May 10 from 10:00am to 2:00pm!
Join your Toronto Centre neighbours for a day dedicated to environmental sustainability and community engagement at Allan Gardens! Our annual Community Environment Day offers a variety of activities and services designed to help you make a positive impact on our planet.
What to Expect:
- Free Loose Compost: Bring your own container or bag and pick up nutrient-rich compost to enrich your garden soil.

Free Tree Sapling Giveaway: Urban Forestry is coming to give out some free tree saplings and share some information about tree care in the city so you know how to care for your neighbourhood greenery. Learn more about Urban Forestry here.
- First come first serve while supplies last. 1 tree per household.
- Free Shredding Service: Get rid of all your junk mail, old utility bills, scrap papers, and old homework to be safely shredded and recycled!
- Household Hazardous Waste Disposal: Safely dispose of items like paints, batteries, and chemicals.
- Donations: Bring gently used household items and clothing, as well as non-perishable food items for the Allan Gardens Food Bank.
- Free Bicycle Registration: Toronto Police Services will be present to help with live bike registrations to keep your mobility safe and retrievable.
- Free Fire Truck Demonstration: Toronto Fire Services will be present with their fire truck, doing demonstrations and answering all your household questions
- City Programs Info: Discover valuable resources and services offered by the City to support sustainable living.
This event is perfect for residents of all ages. By participating, you’re contributing to a cleaner, greener Toronto. Let’s work together to make a difference! Bring your family and friends, meet your neighbours, and enjoy a day of learning, sharing, and environmental stewardship. Mark your calendars and be a part of the solution!
Come by and pick up loose compost, donate items in good condition for reuse, and dispose of unwanted items!
Kitchen containers will also be available for purchase for $7 each!

- Cell phones & small electronics
- E-Cigarettes
- Household hazardous waste
- Propane tanks
- Paint solvents glue
- Pesticides & fertilizers
- Unused medications
- Fluorescent bulbs
- Batteries
- Used cooking oils
Donate items in good condition for reuse:
- Sporting goods
- Arts and crafts supplies
- Books (no textbooks)
- Cameras, CDs and cases
- Clothing, costumes, linens etc.
- Small household items
- Musical instruments, board games
- Eyeglasses, walking aids, etc.
- Non-perishable foods
