Iftar Event in Regent Park

On April 3, I attended a heartwarming Iftar event in Regent Park that was a collaboration effort by Mothers of Peace, Regent Park Islamic Resource Centre, Toronto Community Housing, Humaniti Foundation, Tridel Corporation, Daniels Corporation, the Centre for Community Learning and Development and Sam’s Food Store.

Mayor Chow and I had the joy of celebrating with the Regent Park community amidst the breaking of fast during Ramadan.

What made this event truly special was the way our community came together. Volunteers worked tirelessly, cooking and bringing out the delicious food while also lending a hand with set up and tear down. The presence of a vibrant Ramadan bazaar showcased the diverse cultures that make up our community. We shared in raffles and giveaways and handed out gift cards and prizes while revelling in the rich tapestry of traditions that bring us together during this holy month.

It was a beautiful testament to the strength of our community and the power of coming together and celebrating our shared values.
