Why is Public Markets Week important?
Running from June 6 to 13, Public Markets Week celebrates Toronto’s more than 160 public markets, vital spaces that support local economies, reflect the city’s cultural diversity and help build strong, connected communities.
What kind of events can residents expect?
There are many ways to participate. Attend the launch of Public Markets Week at the Stop Farmers’ Market on Saturday, June 6, sign up for one of six free Neighbourhood Market Tours and enjoy special Love Local activations featuring live music, cooking demos and children’s art activities at select markets. On Friday June 12, celebrate summer soccer at the launch of Underground Market at Bathurst Quay Common. And wrap up the week by dropping by the Market Street Pride celebration at St. Lawrence Market.
