Regent Park Environment Day: July 19

Join me on July 19, when my office will host our third annual Community Environment Day at Regent Park. Every year, I’m so happy to see so many community members come to drop off and recycle their hazardous waste, electronics and shredding. For Regent Park this year, we have bagged compost again; ot was so popular that we ran out by 1:00 pm, so come early!

This year, we invited Fred Victor Seed Bank to provide seeds and teach everyone about edible gardens; Urban Forestry to provide some information about tree maintenance; and shredding services to properly dispose of confidential documents that you may have. We have also invited TCEU Local 416 again to cook and serve some burgers and hot dogs for residents. This year, we’ll even have Uncle Jimmy’s ice cream truck on site for all your slushee and ice cream cravings on a hot summer day!

I look forward to seeing you there!

More than 130 residents participated in community safety meetings hosted by my office and Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) this spring in St. James Town and Moss Park. The meetings brought together residents, TCHC staff, Toronto Police Service, the City's Violence Intervention and Support Unit, Fred Victor, and Unison Health and Community Services to discuss local safety concerns and identify solutions.
