I'm excited to share with you the launch of the 2024 refresh of the Social Development Plan (SDP) for Regent Park.
The SDP was developed in 2007 through community consultations to support social inclusion and social cohesion of community members in Regent Park during the revitalization. The plan supports key areas identified by community members and provides funding to community groups.
While refreshed in 2019, concerns were raised by community members since. The City has been told that use of SDP funds need more transparency and receiverships need to be reported on time. In addition, the need for an equity-centered, youth-centered, anti-oppressive and anti-racism approach that is informed by members of the Regent Park community. The strategy will create a pathway to inclusive, equitable and supportive participation of all Regent Park community members.
The City is hosting a Regent Park Pre-Launch Interactive Engagement Session to engage non-profit, grassroots, resident-led, or community organization groups operating in Regent Park. If your group is interested, please join us.
Our diverse community makes Regent Park unique, and our goal is to ensure everyone feels welcome and represented. The SDP Refresh integrates best practices and identifies areas for improvement to enhance the living experience for Regent Park community members. Transparency is key, and we are committed to informing you about funding and project progress. This ensures that you know how resources are being used to benefit our community.
