Spring Recreation: Registration Opening February 24!

Spring recreation activities are now available to view and add to your wish list ahead of registration opening in early March. Early Local Registration begins on Tuesday, February 24 for eligible residents living near participating Free Centres. Registration for Older Adult 60+ programs starts on Monday, March 2. Other registrations open on Tuesday, March 3 for Etobicoke York and Toronto East York and on Wednesday, March 4 for Scarborough and North York. Most registered programs begin on Saturday, March 28.

Visit the City's online registration web page to learn how to create a new account for you and your family and make a personalized Wish List you can register from in early March when registration opens.  

Eligible residents living near 24 Free Centres--including the John Innes Community Centre, Pam McConnell Aquatic Centre and Regent Park Community Centre and Wellesley Community Centre--may be able to register one week ahead of the general registration start dates. The Early Local Registration program uses data to create zones based on population, physical access, and social factors to make participating in recreation programs easier for residents. If you live near a Free Centre, you can find out whether you are eligible to participate in the early recreation registration by entering your address in the map search field at Early Local Recreation Registration – City of Toronto.

The City of Toronto is one of the largest providers of recreation programs for all ages and interests in Canada, with approximately 16,700 registered courses and more than 151,000 spaces offered. Activities include learn to swim, arts and crafts, sports, fitness and more. Adapted and accessible programs are also available. The City of Toronto’s Identify ‘N Impact community grant helps promote youth engagement and community safety by providing up to $17K for youth-led (15-29) initiatives that help with violence prevention, mental health and well-being, skills development, arts and youth-friendly spaces. Applications are now open until September 15 at 12:00pm.

 

Opened last year, Biidaasige Park is expanding with 10 more acres of public waterfront space at 238 Cherry Street on Ookwemin Minising. With new places to walk, cycle, paddle, gather, enjoy public art and take in skyline views, residents and visitors are invited to come celebrate during opening weekend on July 25 and 26.
