Tax and Utility Bill Relief Program: Apply by October 31!

Are you a low-income senior or low-income person with a disability who owns a home in Toronto? You may qualify for financial relief on your property tax and utility bills. The City’s relief programs are available to help ease financial strain and make sure eligible property owners can comfortably maintain their residences.

You can apply online or submit a paper application. When you apply online, your household income is verified by Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), so you don’t have to submit additional income-related documents. You can access a paper application form here or call 311. Paper applications can be mailed or dropped off at a Tax and Utility counter at City Hall or a civic centre. The mailing address is City of Toronto, Revenue Services, Property Tax Rebates, 5100 Yonge St., Toronto, ON M2N 5V7. The deadline to apply is Friday, October 31.

You must apply each year, as household income and other eligibility requirements need to be verified annually. You can call 311 for Tax and Utility Relief Program information from Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4pm. Outside Toronto, call 416-392-2489. For deaf and hearing-impaired service call 711. You can also inquire by email at [email protected].

More than 130 residents participated in community safety meetings hosted by my office and Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) this spring in St. James Town and Moss Park. The meetings brought together residents, TCHC staff, Toronto Police Service, the City's Violence Intervention and Support Unit, Fred Victor, and Unison Health and Community Services to discuss local safety concerns and identify solutions.
