TC Talks: Toronto's Cultural Districts - April 16

Join us on April 16 for an evening of insight and conversation as we explore the City of Toronto's new Cultural Districts Program — an exciting initiative designed to recognize and celebrate the city's distinct cultural areas while addressing the growing challenge of shifting cultural identity.

Every year, our office hosts a series of Toronto Centre (TC) Talks. This popular educational panel series brings together voices from the public, private, and nonprofit sectors to share expertise, spark dialogue, and explore ideas that shape our city and communities.

This session will focus on what a Cultural Districts Program could mean for neighbourhoods like Church-Wellesley Village and communities across Toronto — and why it matters now more than ever.

Whether you're passionate about the history and character of your neighbourhood, concerned about cultural displacement, or simply curious about how cities protect and celebrate local cultural identity, this is your opportunity to listen, learn, and ask the questions that matter to your community.

More than 130 residents participated in community safety meetings hosted by my office and Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) this spring in St. James Town and Moss Park. The meetings brought together residents, TCHC staff, Toronto Police Service, the City's Violence Intervention and Support Unit, Fred Victor, and Unison Health and Community Services to discuss local safety concerns and identify solutions.
