TDSB Presents African Heritage Classes

The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) is launching four NEW African Heritage classes that students from kindergarten to Grade 8 can attend. Students in the African Heritage program will explore the history, culture, traditions, and contributions that people of African descent have made to Canada and the world. Where and When:

  • George Syme Community School (69 Pritchard Avenue, York) - Saturdays, 9:30am to 12:00pm
  • Portage Trail Community School (100 Sidney Belsey Crescent, North York) - Saturdays, 9:30am to 12:00pm
  • Cornell Junior Public School (61 Holmfirth Terrace, Scarborough) - Saturdays, 9:30am to 12:00pm
  • Mary Shadd Public School (135 Hupfield Trail, Scarborough) - Fridays, 5:00pm to 7:30pm

More than 130 residents participated in community safety meetings hosted by my office and Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) this spring in St. James Town and Moss Park. The meetings brought together residents, TCHC staff, Toronto Police Service, the City's Violence Intervention and Support Unit, Fred Victor, and Unison Health and Community Services to discuss local safety concerns and identify solutions.
