Toronto Tenant School: May 30

Join the Federation of Metro Tenants and  learn about your rights under the law, meet other tenant leaders and strategize to take action against bad landlords! Tenants and Tenant Association leaders in Toronto are welcome to come to the Tenant School on May 30. This is an intensive training with classes taught by lawyers and community advocates.

The school is hybrid: there are both Zoom and in person workshops. 

Here is the schedule of workshops:

  • Introduction to Landlord and Tenant Law:
    Date and time: Saturday, May 30 from 10:00am to 1:00pm
    Format: in person
  • Community Organizing and Tenant Associations:
    Date and time: Saturday, May 30 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm
    Format: In  person

  • Working with Government:
    Date and Time:TBA (weeknight)
    Format: Zoom
  • Getting Repairs Done:
    Date and time: Tuesday, June 2 from 7 PM - 8:30 PM
    Format: Zoom

A detailed course outline will be sent to registered participants along with applicable zoom links. Participants who sign up will be given the location of the in-person workshops. Participants will get a certificate upon completion.

Latest posts

More than 130 residents participated in community safety meetings hosted by my office and Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) this spring in St. James Town and Moss Park. The meetings brought together residents, TCHC staff, Toronto Police Service, the City's Violence Intervention and Support Unit, Fred Victor, and Unison Health and Community Services to discuss local safety concerns and identify solutions.
