Wellesley Station Mural - Community Consultation

This event has already taken place.

Participatory Budgeting 2023 was a huge success! Generated as one of many resident submitted projects from Zone 1 Church Wellesley Village, I'm proud to be part of the community's direct democracy process and to vouch for it in City Council. Please learn more about the project here. Keep your eyes peeled for Zone 2 and Zone 3 in Participatory Budgeting 2024!

The Church Wellesley Village BIA, Councillor Moise's office and Pride Toronto are collaborating to create two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex (2SLGBTQI+) community-supportive spaces through mural art.

The goal is to create a historical tribute at Wellesley TTC Station by creating a mural that pays tribute to the 2SLGBTQI+ community, celebrates the history and milestones in Toronto, and/or highlights key events and figures in the community's journey. This project aims to enhance the cultural vibrancy, visibility, and inclusivity of the 2SLGBTQI+ community within the Church-Wellesley Village, fostering a sense of pride, acceptance, and unity for all.

There will be a public consultation on Wednesday April 24, 2024 from 6:00PM - 8:00PM at the 519 room 106. The design deadline has been extended to 26 April 2024 with a final design selection announcement prospectively scheduled for the first week of May. The design jury has been expanded to include the 519 (pending their confirmation) and five members of the public who either live in the neighbourhood or have strong community involvement. We will announce the jury application procedure in the next few days and encourage you to apply.

See you there!
