Canada Post Disruptions: What You Need to Know

On September 25, postal workers with CUPW began labour action over issues including wages and working conditions. During this period, many notices and services that the City would provide will be paused, and may require residents to seek out alternative means for matters such as paying property taxes and receiving public notices about development applications.

The duration of this labour strike is unknown at this time, but I appreciate your patience and understanding. I would also encourage you to support local businesses during this disruption as these particular strikes can be very harmful to their operations.

My office will be doing our best to deliver critical information to residents through available communication channels. Please check my website for updates and my event calendar for upcoming events. If you have an item that would be going to Toronto and East York Community Council, other committees I sit on or City Council, sign up for updates here. The City maintains a list of active construction notices that you can find here; I will be putting significant notices on my website under updates for easier access. Finally when appropriate, I will also be distributing information through my Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and Bluesky accounts, so please follow me in this spaces.

During a Canada Post labour disruption, some City of Toronto services and programs may be affected. The City is committed to ensuring that residents and businesses are able to access services and programs with minimal disruption. Contingency plans are in place to provide alternative options for items normally delivered and received by mail. Residents and businesses with questions about City services and programs that are affected by the Canada Post labour disruption can contact 311.

Payments normally mailed to the City must be made by their due date. Please call 311 to find out about alternative ways to pay. More information about affected services can also be found on the City's website. These impacted services include:
  • Automated Speed Enforcement & Red-Light Camera Penalties
  • Business Grants, Incentives & Rebates
  • Business Improvement Areas (BIAs)
  • Business Licensing
  • Committee of Adjustment
  • Construction Notices
  • Doing Business With the City
  • Excess Garbage Tags
  • Freedom of Information Requests
  • Parking Permits
  • Parking Tickets

A new mural is coming to Central Neighbourhood House, and we need your feedback! In response to community feedback, the site for the mural–a project from my 2024 Participatory Budgeting exercise–has been moved from 237 Gerrard Street East to Central Neighbourhood House (349 Ontario Street), which offers a larger canvas.

Please fill out this survey to provide feedback on the mural location and theme.

You might not know it from the recent rollercoaster of weather, but spring has arrived in Toronto. Hot on its heels, our first Environment Day is happening at Allan Gardens on May 10, the Underpass Park Farmers' Market is opening May 14, and patio season begins right around the Victoria Day weekend. Let’s get out, enjoy our open spaces, support local businesses,  and celebrate the warmer weather!

The pedestrianization of two blocks of Church Street this summer is a major initiative that I have been working on with the Church-Wellesley Business Improvement Area. From June 19 - August 21, Church Street will be pedestrianized between Wellesley Street East and Alexander Street. To date, over 2,200 people have signed a petition in support of this, and I invite you to add your support by  visiting the Toronto Centre Projects website.
