Love Local: Support local businesses!

The City of Toronto’s Love Local campaign encourages Torontonians to shop local and support Canadian products and businesses. This is just one of ten immediate actions in the Mayor’s Economic Action Plan in Response to United States Tariffs aimed at protecting small businesses, strengthening local supply chains and ensuring economic resilience. More information about the Action Plan can be found on the City’s Responding to United States Economic Policy webpage.

Q: What is the Love Local campaign?

A: The Love Local campaign, launched by the City of Toronto, encourages residents to support locally-owned businesses. The campaign aims to keep economic benefits within the community, helping to create jobs, boost local tax revenue and maintain Toronto’s vibrancy, particularly in response to U.S. trade policies. You can support the campaign by shopping at local stores, dining at local restaurants, buying from local artisans and promoting businesses on social media! You can also visit neighbourhood and farmers markets to further engage with Toronto’s local economy.

Q: Where can I find Love Local LED signs in Toronto?

A: Look for Love Local signs around the city! Snap a picture and share with friends and family or tag a local business on social media you want to support. Signs are being installed over the coming days at:

  • Toronto Public Library Agincourt Branch
  • Nathan Phillips Square
  • Mel Lastman Square
  • East Lynn Park
  • St. Clements-Yonge Parkette
  • Port Union Community Recreation Centre

It's time to stand united with small businesses and local suppliers & manufacturers that need our support during these economic times. Let’s keep our dollars in our communities. Learn more at toronto.ca/Tariffs, and look out for my own stickers in windows across Toronto Centre!
