You might not know it from the recent rollercoaster of weather, but spring has arrived in Toronto. Hot on its heels, our first Environment Day is happening at Allan Gardens on May 10, the Underpass Park Farmers' Market is opening May 14, and patio season begins right around the Victoria Day weekend. Let’s get out, enjoy our open spaces, support local businesses,  and celebrate the warmer weather!

The pedestrianization of two blocks of Church Street this summer is a major initiative that I have been working on with the Church-Wellesley Business Improvement Area. From June 19 - August 21, Church Street will be pedestrianized between Wellesley Street East and Alexander Street. To date, over 2,200 people have signed a petition in support of this, and I invite you to add your support by  visiting the Toronto Centre Projects website.

Looking for a fun, low-key way to connect with your neighbours this spring? Come join us for an evening of games, good company, and great conversation.

Toronto Centre Board Game Night brings together community members of all ages and experience levels for a relaxed night at the table. Whether you're a seasoned strategy player, a casual gamer, or have never picked up a board game in your life, there's a spot for you.

As we head into April, I wish you and your families a wonderful Easter and Passover. For those with kids, I’ve invited the Easter Bunny to join me this Saturday for free events for your whole family!

Doug Ford’s campaign of cruelty against marginalized people living with addiction challenges continues to worsen – and he’s making our entire downtown increasingly unsafe in the process. Ford continues to ignore professionals, experts, researchers, and medical advice in the process as he tries to shut down two of the last remaining supervised consumption services (SCSs) in the Downtown East.

Join your Toronto Centre neighbours for a day dedicated to environmental sustainability and community engagement at Regent Park! Our annual Community Environment Day offers a variety of activities and services designed to help you make a positive impact on our planet.

It’s been a very busy fall and winter in Toronto Centre and at City Hall, and I’m proud to see that more and more results are visibly taking shape.

Together, we’ve made real progress and delivered real results. Encampments in our parks are now virtually zero: the plan that my team and I have put in place, in conjunction with fast responses by our City’s social services partners, has meant that hundreds of people have now come out of the cold and into supportive and transitional housing, where they can better access the supports and services they need.

Similarly, here in Toronto Centre we’ve achieved 10,257 housing starts: we’re building and delivering more housing and affordable housing. We’ve acquired a new, much larger building for the St Lawrence Library to move to in a couple of years so that it can serve Moss Park as well. We even made our voices heard and reversed a proposed cut to the Downtown East Action Plan – which now will really start ramping up this spring and summer.
