Outages can be sustained or momentary. Momentary outages of a few seconds or minutes are a normal part of any electrical distribution system.

Planned outages can be required for repair work, maintenance or upgrades.
Sometimes, planned outages are needed to complete improvements or repairs safely. If a planned outage impacts your home, Toronto Hydro will do their best to notify you by phone or provide written notice. The notice will include the date, time, expected outage duration and other project details.
