TTC Strike Information

As early as Friday, June 7, Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 113 will be a potential strike position, which will significantly impact transit in Toronto. Please check back on this article for updates.

Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 113, the union representing approximately 12,000 TTC operators, collectors, maintenance workers, station staff and other frontline TTC employees will be in a strike position as of 12:01am on Friday, June 7

The impact of any strike action will mean that all buses, streetcars and subway lines will be shut down. GO transit and other lines operated by the province will be unaffected, and Wheel-Trans will remain in operation.

ATU Local 113 is asking for a wage increase, job security and additional benefits. For more information, please visit the TTC's website.

It is strongly recommended that if you rely on TTC to travel around the City that you make a backup plan as to how you will attend important commitments like work and childcare. These alternatives could include:

  • Working with your employer to accommodate working from home;
  • Working with friends, family and colleagues to carpool to work;
  • Reaching out to family to assist with childcare; and
  • Finding alternative modes of transportation, including GO Transit, cycling and walking to work where feasible.

We will post updates on this webpage as they are received.

More than 130 residents participated in community safety meetings hosted by my office and Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) this spring in St. James Town and Moss Park. The meetings brought together residents, TCHC staff, Toronto Police Service, the City's Violence Intervention and Support Unit, Fred Victor, and Unison Health and Community Services to discuss local safety concerns and identify solutions.
