Building More Housing

One of my priorities is using under-utilized City lands for deeply affordable housing, as part of a comprehensive plan to increase supportive and affordable housing in Toronto Centre.

I’ve recently been working with the Mayor on sites that are getting closer to ground-breaking: one of them,405 Sherbourne, is now at the stage
of selecting operator for it, with a ground-breaking to take place in late 2025. It will build 89 affordable rental units & 176 rent controlled units, with occupancy in 2027. Since
being elected, my office has worked with the City to approve more than 17,000 units of housing locally, including nearly 800 affordable housing units,

Over the last six months, we have opened 9 units of supportive housing at 218 Carlton Street. In the next six months, we will be opening up 44 affordable housing units at 502 – 508 Parliament Street and 280 affordable and supportive housing units at the old Bond Place Hotel.
