Our Encampment Dashboard provides updates encampments in parks, how we’re managing them, and outlines City’s new encampment protocol.
Updated weekly, it tracks the number of tents at an encampment, the number of people, how many people have moved out, the number of people successfully moved into housing, and the number of engagements city staff have with individuals in the encampment. In June, I successfully passed a motion at City Council directing staff to create microshelters in vacant lands & TTC parking lots. Homelessness is a complex problem, and we’re trying to address seasonal cycles in a positive and compassionate way.
We know building housing is the permanent solution to ending encampments. “Inclusionary zoning” measures are ready to go, but we first need the Province to issue regulations.
As your councillor, enhancing equitable access to recreation facilities has been a key priority. Just like you, I value the Moss Park Arena, our only indoor arena downtown, along with the vibrant outdoor Ice Rink in Regent Park.
The Access to Recreation Program has increased access to swimming lessons and facilities for local students at Winchester, Sprucecourt, Nelson Mandela, and Lord Dufferin schools.
Vibrant neighbourhoods have streets and sidewalks for residents to use and enjoy.
