Ice Time for All: Investing in our Skating Rinks

As your councillor, enhancing equitable access to recreation facilities has been a key priority. Just like you, I value the Moss Park Arena, our only indoor arena downtown, along with the vibrant outdoor Ice Rink in Regent Park.

I am excited to announce that a brand new electric Zamboni and storage shed will arrive at the Regent Park Athletic Grounds in 2025. The Zamboni and shed will enhance rink services during the winter. I’ve also initiated a governance and operations review of Moss Park Arena which will consider making the City responsible for running the arena. A City-run arena will have a broader access and programming mandate, with greater emphasis on service delivery.

One of the most tangible changes you will see if and when the City takes over operations, is FREE drop-in skate time. Currently there are no drop-in opportunities for families and youth to skate without being part of a program. Existing programs and leagues, including the Moss Park House League which has done outstanding work since 1957 to engage with over 300 of our local school children and residents, will see minimal, if any, impacts.

The Year Ahead

As your Councillor, I'm building a Toronto that's safe, livable, affordable, and commutable - for all of us.

After hearing from you at the door, on the street, at community events, at our town halls, and from letters and emails you’ve sent to me, my team and I are working hard to deliver.

Here's how this year's City budget will work for all of us:
