Join us for this year’s Regent Park Summer Jam — a free community celebration focused on bringing neighbours together and kicking off the summer season in a positive and welcoming way. The event will take place on Saturday, June 13 from 12:00pm to 5:00pm in Regent Park (620 Dundas Street East) and will feature live entertainment, free food, family-friendly activities, community resources, and opportunities for residents to connect with local organizations and safety partners.
Early local Registration allows eligible residents living near Free Centres to register one week ahead of the general registration start date. Eligible residents can register for Summer programs as of May 26 at 7:00am.
You might not know it from the recent rollercoaster of weather, but spring has arrived in Toronto. Hot on its heels, our first Environment Day is happening at Allan Gardens on May 10, the Underpass Park Farmers' Market is opening May 14, and patio season begins right around the Victoria Day weekend. Let’s get out, enjoy our open spaces, support local businesses, and celebrate the warmer weather!
The pedestrianization of two blocks of Church Street this summer is a major initiative that I have been working on with the Church-Wellesley Business Improvement Area. From June 19 - August 21, Church Street will be pedestrianized between Wellesley Street East and Alexander Street. To date, over 2,200 people have signed a petition in support of this, and I invite you to add your support by visiting the Toronto Centre Projects website.

Doug Ford’s campaign of cruelty against marginalized people living with addiction challenges continues to worsen – and he’s making our entire downtown increasingly unsafe in the process. Ford continues to ignore professionals, experts, researchers, and medical advice in the process as he tries to shut down two of the last remaining supervised consumption services (SCSs) in the Downtown East.
At The Walrus Talks Power and Belonging, speakers from civic life, research institutions, culture work, and community organizing will explore how agency and voice define whether people feel they belong. How can dignity, trust, and participation be rebuilt when polarization is driving us apart? How can communities and individuals reclaim the power to make a difference?
