News & Updates

There is very positive news on the watermain and TTC streetcar track replacement at King Street East and Church Street: work has proceeded as planned, and the intersection is set to open in mid-August as planned. I know this has been a very disruptive project, especially for local businesses, and I thank everyone for their patience and understanding as this critical intersection has been under construction.

Overnight on-street permit parking is officially active in Regent Park. Permit Parking Area 7L, was approved by the Toronto and East York Community Council to help manage local parking demand and ensure equitable access to residential on-street parking. A circular economy requires innovation and collaboration across government, industry, academia, the not-for-profit sector and Indigenous communities. Take the online survey to share your ideas!

On June 27, 2025, the Minister of Education placed four more school boards under supervision - including the Toronto District School Board (TDSB). Under supervision, trustees are not representatives of the board. Critical decisions are being made by a single supervisor. Democratically elected trustees have been sidelined and not allowed to fulfill their role and responsibility to represent students, families, and constituents.

The City’s Parkland Strategy and Parks and Recreation Facilities Plan guide growth and investment in parkland and recreation over the next 20 years. Beginning in Fall 2024, thousands of community members have citywide provided feedback to help inform the updates to these plans.  This summer you can review and share your feedback on the proposed updates to these plans and let the City know if you think this work is on the right track.
